How to avoid long lines in LRT and MRT during rush hours?

Long tedious lines in LRT Line 1 and MRT Line 3 usually happens every weekdays in the morning at around 6:30am until 10:00am and 4:30pm until 8:00pm in the afternoon.

1.) To avoid long lines, ride the LRT or MRT trains before or after the weekday rush hour stated above.

What to do if are caught in the rush hour period?

From North (Pampanga, Bulacan, Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela) going to South (Makati, Taguig, Ortigas)

1.) Ride a bus in EDSA going to Baclaran/Alabang and alight at MRT Ortigas Station . You will have a higher chance of riding a train in this station because many passengers who works in Ortigas Area starts to alight at this station. However, you will encouter first huge traffic during your bus ride in Cubao Area, one of the major choke points in EDSA.

2.) Alternatively, you can ride a P2P Point to Point Bus at SM City North EDSA going to SM Megamall and Ayala

3.) Ride a jeep in Rizal Ave. Extension going Divisoria/Taft/Recto and alight at Blumentritt. Ride a train at Philippine National Railways (PNR) going to Alabang/Calamba. Alight at Magallanes/Mantrade station.

4.) (Soon to Open) Ride a jeep in Samson Road going to UE/Letre and alight at PNR Caloocan Terminal (near UE Caloocan). Ride a train going to Alabang/Calamba and alight at Magallanes/Mantrade station.

5.) Ride a jeep in Rizal Ave. Extension going Taft and alight at Central Terminal Station/Central Post Office. Ride a Ferry Boat at the Pasig River going to Guadalupe and alight at Guadalupe Makati station.

6.) If you are really in a hurry, last option is to book a ride at GrabBike. Motorcycles are usually the only vehicles who can whistand this huge traffic.

- During evening rush time, if you are coming from Pasay/Mall of Asia Area, ride an LRT Line 1 Train at Baclaran station instead of EDSA Station. You will be surprised that your 10 to 15 minute walk will be rewarded by 30 to 60 minutes of comfortably seating inside the train.

- If you are going to North Ave. Station and you are coming from Boni Ave. Station, ride a train first going to EDSA/Taft Station. Alight at Buendia Station and transfer to another train now going to North Ave. Station. You will have a higher chance of entering or getting a train ride here compare to Boni Ave. and Guadalupe Station. (Fare are same amount for this 2 rides)

- If you are going to North Ave. Station and you are coming from Ayala Ave. Station, ride a train first going to EDSA-Taft Station. Alight at EDSA-Taft Station and transfer to another train now going to North Ave. Station. You might need to mislead the security guards assigned. You can go up first to the Paid Level Section and go down again so you won't be noticed easily. You will have a higher chance of entering or getting a seat here compare Ayala Ave. Station. (Fare are same amount for this 2 rides)
